Brooklyn- based rapper, Theophilus London, comes to D.C. tonight returning to his old stomping grounds on the 9:30 Club stage. The electro-hip hop artist combines Eurocentric dub beats with African percussion rhythms to create a style of music very much his own. Long before the release of his first solo album The Timez Are Weird These Days, in July, the self-confident Trinidad native gained attention in both fashion and music circles alike (especially after appearing at Paris' Lanvin show in place of ‘big brother' Kanye West.) Soon to become a style icon London has not only gained fans from his 80's tailors suits and chaps but also from hits like ‘Flying Over Seas,' featuring gal-pal and fellow fashion connoisseur Solange Knowles, ‘Wine and Chocolates, and ‘Why Even Try,' featuring Sara Quinn.
Currently finishing up his new mixtape, Lovers Holiday II: Rose Island' Project, London told Style.com that it is "dedicated to all the sexy women behind the scenes, not models. It's for journalist sitting at their desk and women behind the camera." Recently releasing his new single, ‘Last Night (LVRS Anthem.)' fans can anticipate a night of new introspective club bangers, catchy choruses, and indie oldies.
The Tour De Roses, makes its 17th stop at the 9:30 Club tonight. Show starts at 7pm. Tickets $25.
