Mihn Tran created the local smartphone app to make D.C. nightlife easier to navigate

It's Friday night, the club just isn't your scene. You don't want to be cramped in someone's small living room or sweaty basement at a house party, but you have no idea what else is there to do in the city. Minh Tran's latest app, Got Eventz, may be able to solve your weekend woes.

The event and tourism app is available for the iPhone and Androids. It provides users with the latest on live music, the city's best happy hours, restaurant deals,

after 11 fun and the latest events going on around the city.

"College students are always looking for something fun to do so the happy hour feature is very useful for them and after 11 is very useful for them. It can come in handy when going on a date and someone doesn't know where to take his or her date. This is like an idea generator app," Tran said.

Tran invented the app after finding no local apps or websites to help determine where to take family and friends whenever they came into town.  So he took the initiative and created an app to eliminate the problem.

Got Eventz not only finds you somewhere to go, but may also be able to provide you with recommendations at various restaurants. When you use the Check-In feature, the application will provide dish recommendations based on previous reviews.  The goal of the app is to be a local event app and a tourism app, but too help local businesses promote themselves.

Tran partnered with another company that handles all the theatre shows in the city and says the city of the D.C. is looking at  possibly endorsing the app.
