Whitney Houston, the queen of pop, died on Saturday. She was 48. Her body was found at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. The cause of death is still unknown.

 

Mayor Vincent Gray hosted is "One City" summit on Saturday at the Washington Convention Center. The day long convention brought together two thousand residents to discuss their thoughts on improving the city.

 

The National Park service announced Friday it will change the controversial inscription on the Martin Luther King Jr. memorial and replace it with the full quotation. Harry Johnson the president and CEO of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Project Foundation fears the change with threaten the design, structure and integrity of the monument.

 

Hundreds of residents went out in the cold on Saturday in nothing but their underwear for the Cupid's Undie Run. The Cupud's Undie Run is a fundraiser where participants run 1.5 miles to benefit the Children's Tumor Foundation.

 

With an average of 20% of Washington students missing school 15 or more days of school, the District government has launched an anti-truancy campaign. The campaign encourages middle and high school students to show up to class and get a diploma.
