As children hit district neighborhoods on Monday night, in hopes of returning home with buckets full of candy – adults ventured out to explore the many bar crawls, and Halloween parties happening all over the city.

Amid  the ‘trick or treating' in DC streets things got out of hand. Violence commenced as six people were injured in five different shootings around the district, including a boy who was found in Georgetown with gunshots to the head.

The first shooting took place around 8p.m. Police were called to the scene on M Street to find a young boy grazed in the head by a bullet.  Half an hour later, police were called to a scene in the Georgia Avenue/Petworth in Northwest area for a double shooting. Both victims were taken to the hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries.

Soon after, a woman was reportedly shot in the ankle along Crittenden street Northwest.

Also, on the M Street, in Georgetown a boy was found on the ground, shot in the head outside of one of the areas main eateries, where people in costumes stopped in and out for a bite to eat throughout the night—as a Halloween tradition.

According to the Associated Press the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

A story on the incident by the Washington Post stated that Sofiene Ben Mansour, owner of George's Falafel Restaurant at 28thand M street, said he heard three gunshots around 10:50 p.m. Mansour said the shots set off a throng in the streets and people were moving all over the place.

Following this incident the ghoulish violence was capped with a man being shot in the foot in the 1300 block of Southern Avenue in Southeast.

Currently the police have not released any information on suspects or possible motives for these Halloween shootings.
