The Lady Bison dominated the entire game Saturday to win their last home game of the season, while the men's team suffered a devastating loss in overtime to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in front of a near-capacity crowd at Burr Gymnasium.
Seniors of the two teams were honored before the games and fans filled the stands for Student Organization Day.

Saadiya Doyle led the Bison to a 28-11 lead at the end of the first period with 10 points while the defense dominated throughout the game to pick up a 62-57 win.

Frustration mounted for UMES in the second period that resulted in a technical foul being called on their bench.

UMES made a run to knock the Lady Bison lead down to seven with 5:54 left on the clock with April McBride leading the way but consecutive field goals, a 3-pointer, by freshman guard Cheyenne Curley-Payne and forward Portia Deterville gave the Lady Bison back control of the game.

The Lady Bison led by as much as 18 at one point to pick up a win in their last home game. Doyle ended up getting her 18th double-double this season with 16 points and 10 rebounds, making all eight of her free throw attempts. Zykia Brown scored a team-high 18 points.

The men suffered a devastating loss in overtime, 68-66, against their conference rival. The Bison (7-23 overall, 6-9 in the MEAC) were led by Calvin Thompson, who had a game-high 17 points, which all came during the second half and overtime.
Both teams struggled to score early with the first points being scored four minutes into the game but picked up the pace down the stretch.

Junior guard Kyle Riley was injured halfway through the first period when he collided with a UMES player and had to be helped off the court by teammates. The Bison continued to keep up with their opponents through contributions by center Paul Kirkpatrick and forward Dadrian Collins.

With only one minute left on the clock, UMES tied the game with a field goal by center Lyvann "Freddy" Obame Obame.

The crowd cheered on the Bison in the last minute of the game while Calvin Thompson went to the line, hitting one free throw, giving UMES the chance to tie the game with that free throw.

The Bison attempted a last-second shot but missed, sending the game into overtime where missed free throws led to the loss.

A late run by guard Calvin Thompson wasn't enough to give the Bison a win in their last home game.

Both teams take on the Hampton Pirates in Hampton, Va. on Thursday with the Lady Bison starting at 6 p.m. and the men's team at 8 p.m.
